President’s Message
Â
Welcome to the Middle Tennessee Council of the Blind.
On behalf of MTCB, I would like to personally invite you to learn more about our organization and the community we have built together. Whether you are seeking friendship, support, advocacy, resources, or opportunities to stay active and engaged, you will find a welcoming place with us.
While MTCB is dedicated to serving individuals who are blind or visually impaired, we warmly welcome sighted individuals as members, volunteers, advocates, and supporters. Family members, friends, professionals, and community allies all play an important role in helping us build a stronger and more inclusive community.
MTCB is dedicated to fostering independence and promoting justice for people who are blind or visually impaired throughout Middle Tennessee. We believe life should be lived to the fullest, and our members enjoy a wide variety of social, recreational, cultural, and advocacy opportunities throughout the year.
Some of our ongoing activities include:
- Monthly Supper Club gatherings at local restaurants
- Bowling opportunities for all experience levels
- Accessible movies and Broadway performances with audio description
- Community events, meetings, and seasonal gatherings
- Advocacy efforts that promote accessibility, independence, and equal opportunity
Our monthly meetings are held on the second Saturday of each month and provide a place for members to share information, build friendships, discuss community issues, and support one another.
MTCB is proud to serve as a local chapter of the American Council of the Blind and to support its mission of expanding social, economic, and cultural opportunities while promoting independence and equality for people who are blind or visually impaired.
We are always excited to welcome new members, friends, family, and supporters. We hope you will join us at an upcoming meeting or event and become part of our community.
Warm regards,
Trisha Griggs
President, Middle Tennessee Council of the Blind
